WILLIAM BOORMAN (1746-1824) and THOMAS BOORMAN (1780-1862)
=========================== ==============
During the period when England was threatened by Napoleon, he equipped two of his sons to join the
Yeomanry and go to the wars. In those days the Yeomanry had to provide their own horses and
equipment and the father impoverished himself to equip his sons. It appears that both sons were
killed.
Thus, on the death of his father, Thomas inherited the farm. Being a younger son, this was unexpected
and he had trained as a Wheelwright being a trade of use on the farm. History records a bad slump
after the wars and in about 1820 he was forced to leave the farm and set up as a Wheelwright at
Camberwell on the outskirts of London.
