| 1911 census | The country was divided into enumeration districts, each one has a number, unfortunately these districts do not seen to correspond with other divisions such as civil parishes. The first film on the list is an index of townlands (film # 1952210) I assume this gives the enumeration district # for each townland. |

Subject: [Cork-L] JCHAS & LDS films
Hi All,
I got a pleasant surprise this afternoon while at the FHC viewing a film I
ordered back in November which came into the center last week.
I was looking for any available microfilmed copies of the JCHAS (Journal of
the Cork Historical and Archaeological Society) and found film # 1279254 in
the LDS online catalog under the JCHAS title, so ordered the film.
What I didn't realize, and you veteran FHC's experts already know this, is
that very often there are numerous other articles on the same film.
So now, before ordering a film, I think I'll run the film number through the
catalog (all searches...film/fiche number) or the computer at the FHC to see
what else might be included!
There is some really great material on this film other than the JCHAS for
1895---
1. Journal of The Association for the Preservation of the Memorials to the
Dead in Ireland (These seem to be mainly C of I inscription recordings and
LOTS of them! All counties included)
2. ditto
3. Irish Pedigrees, or, The Origin and Stem of the Irish Nation, by John
O'Hart. Published 1876, the entire book, 374 pages, is on this film.
4. The Gentleman's and Citizen's Almanack....for the Year of Our Lord......
1840, Dublin, by John Watson.--lists the chief governors of Ireland,
marquises and earls, viscounts and bishops, barons, members of parliament,
state officers, magistrates of towns, military staff, regiments in Ireland as
of 10 Nov. 1839, hospitals, etc.
5. Barrymore: records of the Barry's of County Cork from the earliest to the
present time with pedigrees, by the Rev. E. Barry, 1902.
This book, copied on this film in its entire 214 pages, consists of 3
chapters:
(1) Barrymores
(2) Barryroes
(3) Barryroes junior branches
(The Barry's of Rahansky and Dundullerick)
6. Another Watson's Almanack, for 1800 Dublin.
7. JCHAS--Vol. 1 second series, 1895
8. The Law Reports of the Incorporated Council of Law reporting for Ireland:
digest of cases decided by the Court of Appeal, the High Court Justice, the
Court for Crown Cases Reserved, in Ireland, the Court of Bankruptcy, and the
Irish Land Commission. From the commencement of Hilary sittings, 1894, to the
end of Michaelmas sittings, 1898.
9. Some Anglicised Surnames in Ireland, by Padraig MacGiolla-Domhnaigh.
